Smart Appliance Scheduling Scheme for Smart Meters using Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization

چکیده

An optimization methodology for the combination of several green technologies is introduced in this paper. These are smart meters, smart appliances, solar power systems and time-of-use (TOU) pricing. These technologies are collectively and widely utilized in the recent smart grid, which is rolling out all over the world to facilitate greener power generation and distribution. Adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO) is utilized for the scheduling of smart appliances. Solar power system is selected for distributed local power generation, because its peak-valley nature matches with the TOU pricing scheme of smart grid and smart meter. Manufacturing and utilization of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) are highly encouraged by many environmentaware governments. Here, PHEV is selected as an example of smart appliance. Optimized scheduling scheme for charging PHEVs is developed in this work.
